I bought a pair when they went on sale, assuming by game week if I could go I would be paying twice face at the minimum. Now that I cannot attend and I'm looking to dump my tickets I am finding there are several tickets out there that the Missouri fans just aren't snatching up.  Not sure if that is just MU fans or if they lack the confidence going into the game?  I even called a broker to swap them for a nebraska home game (even ISU) and they wouldn't even make an offer.

Well, first of all, the game isn't being played in Lincoln, and the
game is a LATE Thursday night game.  Missouri fans just aren't quite
the fervent fans that the Nebraska crowd is.  Mizzou fans aren't as
bad as Colorado fans, who have always had trouble filling their 50,000
seats.  But despite Missouri's recent success, there are quite a few
band-wagoners who jump on and jump off.  But an even bigger factor is
that Columbia is between 1/2 and 1/3 the size of Lincoln, and the
nearest big cities are about two hours away.  Lincoln does well
because Omaha is a short drive away, and because of the fan base, For
Mizzou, St Louis and Kansas City have more people, but not the same
fan base.  And that's a long way to go on a Thursday night.  I've
driven to and from Mizzou games and I always see more Nebraska fans
than Mizzou fans on the road.

And then, imagine coming in from out of town and trying to getting a
room in a limited market, and then try doing that on a Thursday night.
And then don't kick off until after 8 pm and I think you're just
going to have some empty seats.  I was offered tickets and I even have
relatives in Columbia, but taking two days off can be quite difficult
 for folks to do.

I think the key to these Thursday night games is TV revenue and the
fact that you are the only sporting event worth watching on TV that
evening.  And while I'll be sitting on my couch, with eyelid props in
place to keep me from dozing off despite the action on the field, this
game isn't about the game-going fan.  These games were created just
for the revenue they can produce for the schools who participate.  And
 its significant.

Sorry about not being able to dump your tickets.  I wish I could take
a couple days off to go to the game, I'd take 'em.  I'd rather be
there, despite the poor treatment I got the last time I was there (but
at least not by my relatives - was given the finger by no less than
three cars on my way home, the evening AFTER the game).
