[Husker] Offense? (Payback)

LeKevin's Smith's fumble was against Texas Tech, after he intercepted a pass.
Someone with a better memory than mind will remember losing the Texas game in 2006 in Lincoln, because a receiver fumbled a short pass after picking up a first down that would have enabled us to run out the clock.
It was that game that in my mind made Colt McCoy an amazing QB. I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I do recall it was cold (maybe snowing?), he had an injured thumb and he was a freshman and he made a couple of big time plays against us.

The two Nebraska/Texas games during the Callahan years were both extremely close. The one played in Lincoln. we lost because LeKevin Smith fumbled after he either intercepted or recovered a Texas fumble. The game in Texas I believe we were ahead in until late in the fourth quarter when Cosgrove's defense went into its bend and then break identity. We should have won both of those games. For some reason we seem to match up well against Texas.

Weren't the Huskers pretty big underdogs a couple years ago ('07 maybe?) and only lost by a couple points...
Tough to recall the Callahan games, but I thought they were big dogs in either '07 or '06, both losses but both very close.

The Big 12 Championship in '96 was in St. Louis. It was a great atmosphere for me to travel from Memphis and to get together with other Husker List members. It was also my wife's first Husker game.
If the Huskers would have beat Texas in '96, there was a good chance that Nebraska would have had the opportunity to play for a 3rd consecutive national championship. It would be great if the Huskers can return the favor in Arlington.

Oh I definitely remember it as well, I'm just not carrying it around with me anymore, though I did for a long time. I'd like a little payback on Texas, not so much for that one game, but because I can't ever remember beating them, other than that one championship game in '99, since the Big 12 was formed. I don't think our Big 12 record against them is very good.
I'm heading to Dallas for the game. I'll be at the Husker party at the DFW Westin on Friday evening and then I'm told we'll be partying at a bbq spot called "Bone Daddy's" in Grapvine. Husker Huddle is at the baseball stadium Saturday afternoon. I don't think we have a good chance of winning the game, but sooner or later, we are going to beat a good team. It would be fun to be there when it happens.

I haven't forgotten the loss 13 years ago.... I know the members of this team don't have that history, however, tradition is back and Texas has some chinks in it's armor this year, IMHO.

They beat us in '96, we beat them in '99. Now I wouldn't say we are necessarily "even" with Texas, there have been some other tough losses to them, and that loss in the first conference championship game was embarrassing, but it was 13 years ago.
