> I'm interested in others opinions of the Husker Offense today. Only scored 14 points but it felt like they were clicking more. Nice to see the power runs and eating time off the clock. Also some good passes by Lee and protecting the ball by all.
It's really hard to say how good the offense was today, the defense gave
them great field possession most of the game and the scores on an INT
and the punt return took away two opportunities for the Husker offense.
CU outgained the Huskers by nearly 2-1, but add in the return yardage of
those TDs and take away the last two minutes when most of the first
string D was on the sideline and it was a whole lot closer. (The Pelini
brothers looked upset about that score, too. I've seen Carl Pelini's
name on the short list for some possible head coach openings.)
The Huskers had the advantage in time of possession, even with the lower
yardage totals, and that long 80 yard drive in the 2nd half essentially
iced the game.
The D will have to have another great game and the offense has to be
nearly flawless for 60 minutes (something they haven't done yet this
season), but if that happens Texas could find itself in a dogfight. And
as Husker fans should recall, we still owe Texas for an upset in the
conference championship game. Is it payback time?
