Do we know that he "berated" or "chewed out" coach Cotton? We saw that there were words exchanged and that Bo wasnt happy but how do we know that Bo didnt simple say "you make sure you chew his butt when he comes off and tell him if it happens again that he will sit his arse for the rest of the season"? We dont we just see Bo yelling and assume his anger is directed at whomever is getting yelled at. May not be the case at all.

What did Barney do to deserve that treatment???  What did I miss?
"Berating" and "Chewing Out" are different in my opinion.

I don't mind coaches chewing on a player after a dumb play or an
official after a bad call but there is no place in business (football is
a business) for berating your subordinates.
Barney and the rest of the Assistant Coaches aren't going to put up with
  this for long.

So, it's okay to berate a college kid, but not a grown man who gets paid
handsomely to be there?

I doubt we'll see many (if any) defections among the assistants, unless
Bo chooses to fire someone. No matter what happens on the bench, the
assistants (and the players) know it will quickly blow over and Bo will
not take it public. When things go badly, he doesn't point fingers,
usually saying, "I need to do a better job."

Bo has some rough edges, but he is getting better. His demeanor after
the ISU loss was much improved over what we saw after VaT and TxT. His
interaction with the officials is likewise better than in the past. The
man learns from his mistakes. Give him time; he has a terrific upside.
