When 8 or 9 win seasons will get you fired at a number of schools,
the pressure on the coaches to win LOTS of games EVERY YEAR,
is incredible. And while it isn't 100% true that good recruiting will
win you enough games, bad recruiting put you in a hole to start with.
(The problem is, what the recruiting 'experts' think is bad recruiting
and what the coaches think is bad recruiting may have big variances.)

Regarding the recruits, how many of them base their decision on which
school will give them the best chance of playing on Sundays?

At what point will recruiting guidelines go all the way back to in vitro
fertilization? (Ever see the movie GATTACA?)

BTW, this isn't just a football issue, I have heard of major league
baseball scouts keeping tabs on Little League players.
