[Husker] Nebraska Hockey-Question

Over the years, I've heard a couple of rumors about the Huskers adding a D-1 college hockey team, but that's as far as it's gone.  With Title IX issues, the only way it would work is if they add a D-1 women's sport (hockey would be another issue).  Plus there are the funding issues as well as where would they play?  The often discussed Lincoln Haymarket arena would be one idea, but I haven't heard whether ice is part of that equation.

Former athletic director Steve Pederson was asked about hockey once and replied that he thought that was something best left to Nebraska-Omaha.

Roger -

Looks like it is a club team: http://www.unlhockeyclub.com/  That's probably
why there is no information on the Athletic Department's huskers.com web
site.

The league page (Nebraska is in Division 2) is at http://www.achahockey.org/.
Looking at the members of the league, it looks like a different animal than
the NCAA men's ice hockey league (
http://www.ncaa.com/sports/m-hockey/ncaa-m-hockey-body.html).
