And if you look at the two big screen images, the north screen is showing cheerleaders, but the southeast corner screen is showing the band forming "RS", which is when they perform "Hail Varsity" just before half the band leaves the field.  Which, of course, isn't what the band on the field is doing.

So it's safe to say that this picture is a composition of what the stands looked like over six minutes, starting approximately with the national anthem.

Interesting discussion at least to me.  From what I see some of the picture was taken during the national anthem as you can clearly see people with hats off and hand over heart and some of it not.  I was looking at the various game clocks which keep the count down during pregame. 
The clock in the NE corner shows 12:23 and you can see the color guard leaving the field.  The people above that clock mostly have hats ON and no hand over heart but the section just to the left you see mostly hats off and hands over hearts.  The next game clock in the picture is in the North endzone and it is at  13:49 and hats are off.

The other game clock I can see is in the south endzone and it is at 7:45  so at least 6 minutes from one end zone to the other as the camera panned.
