"Game," like "unique," is an absolute: nothing can be "more unique" 
or "almost unique." It is either unique or it is not unique, period.

A man or a dog is either game or not game. Since Joe Ganz, fine 
person and superb player that he is, has never been confronted with 
an ultimate test, we cannot yet determine him to be game or not game.

Still, being "pretty close to game" is high praise indeed.
