I would be very surprised to see the Big 12 have interest in adding teams
in the current region such as TCU or CSU. These moves are all about
putting games on TV, which is why the Big 10 is looking east first.
Past speculation has the Big 12 adding schools in more populous states
that don't have BCS conferences, such as Utah (BYU and/or Utah), Nevada
(UNLV), or even New Mexico.
Missouri would be a big loss. Outside Texas (#2 nationally), Missouri
(#18) is the second most populous state in the Big 12. The Big 10 has
five states more populous than all but Texas in the Big 12. Nebraska
(#39) is the smallest. Utah (#34) and Nevada (#35) are about as big as
Kansas (#33). New Mexico (#36) is slightly larger than Nebraska (#38),
which is slightly larger than Idaho (#39).
The Big 10 is looking at New Jersey (#11), New York (#3), etc.
Is there more revenue shared in the Big 10 than the Big 12? That will
be an important answer.
> I would be up for adding TCU or CSU. TCU is a strong team and are in the BCS bowl this year. Whether they would be in the B12 is questionable. OSU or OU would probably jump to the north. CSU would take the offer in a second, but I do not know, outside of football, what the other sport levels the schools are. I do know neither has a wrestling team.
