[Husker] Final thoughts from Texas (a.k.a. beating a dead horse)

Thanks for the explanation on the DPI penalty. The refs were calling it all
night even when the ball was nowhere near the Texas receivers. Maybe the
most telling thing was the game summary in the Austin paper - every one of
the Texas scoring drive descriptions began with "aided by a 15 yd penalty".
Before the game some of you saw Kelso's column from the Austin
American-Statesman which basically asked why UT should be bothered to play
NU. (By the way, don't take it personally. This guy is a "humorist" and is
trying to be funny. You should see what he writes about OU once a year.)
That kind of arrogance summed up the pre-game feeling by the UT fans. They
rarely pay any attention to any teams other than Texas (even other Texas
teams), so they have no clue the relative strength of other teams.
Since that game the Texas locals have been very complementary of NU and
especially of Ndamakong Suh. Kirk Bohl's (the main sports columnist here)
even voted Suh over McCoy for the Heisman. He caught a ton of flack locally
for that!
Many of the UT fans (not all for sure, but many) realize just how lucky they
got on the last second FG. There was really only .5 seconds left when the
ball hit the railing on the stands. McCoy clearly had no idea how little
time was left. The general statement here was that the game was "heart
stopping".
To show how completely they changed their minds down here, check out Kelso's
column from yesterday. He freely admits Suh dominated McCoy and UT's line.

The Huskers should be proud of that game and the season. But let's hope NU
beats Texas the next two years straight.

I believe pass interference is unique among penalties. It is a spot foul
(i.e., the ball is placed at the spot of the foul), except for two
circumstances. If the foul occurs in the end zone, the ball is placed at
the two, but in any case, the penalty cannot be more than 15 yards. Half
the distance doesn't apply. If any of this is wrong, I was misquoted.

And Gomes was clearly, flagrantly and (dare I say it?) egregiously
pulled down by his jersey on the touchdown play.

That's what Adi said - he tried to kick it too hard.
So, how are the good people of Austin reacting to the Horns near-death
experience?
