[Husker] Reason for offensive woes

Of course it probably makes a difference that 4 out of our five offensive linemen were injured most of the season, a couple to the point they could have sat out the season. Smith and Williams move like they are 80 years old.

It probably made a difference that our quarterback's thumb was so bad he couldn't take a snap under center for many of the games. We had to improvise an offense to deal with this development.

Our starting I-back has a separated shoulder that originally looked like it wouldn't get better until he had surgery. Now I understand they are not so sure it will be necessary.

Our backup I-back broke his foot.

Coupled with several years of great recruiting so we had absolutely no depth to overcome these kind of loses. That master offensive mind and line coach left the cupboard well-stocked with great O-linemen. That is why 2 incoming freshmen were backups.

And speaking of great recruiting, would McElroy (Alabama) have made a difference at QB this year? He was interested in coming to Nebraska, Norvell didn't think he was good enough.
