[Husker] Re: More field goals than TDs?

I wonder how good the NU offensive line would have been this season with Jaivario Burkes or true freshman Brent Qvale, who supposedly was battling for some playing time before an injury.

While the offensive line has been a disappointment, I think the bigger issue is at wide receiver. Niles Paul has been a little inconsistent, and it all goes downhill from there. We've seen two guys who didn't even participate in spring drills (Khiry Cooper & Brandon Kinnie) vault ahead of veterans who've been in the program for years. The lack of production from receivers has forced the program to depend on the running game and challenged the line as defenses stack the box. Maybe another year of experience (and maybe adding Antonio Bell) might allow the offense to loosen things up.

Subject: [Husker] Re: More field goals than TDs?

I realize this does not take the entire season into account, but apart
from the three Sun Belt games, Nebraska had 16 Field Goals to 14 offensive
TDs, and 3 other TDs (1 punt return, 1 blocked punt return, 1 INT return) in 10
games. I can see having more FGs than TDs over a 2-3 game stretch...but
10? Wow.

I am not calling for anyone's head, that is entirely up to Coach Pelini
and AD Osborne and they may have some other ways to fix the offense, but I
will be a little surprised if both Watson and Cotton return next season. I
would expect one of them to be moving on. Don't really want to see Mangino
associated with the program if he is as abusive as reported, but the O-Line
seems to be the weakest link on the entire team this year, and I never
thought that would ever be possible at Nebraska.

That said, I hope they pull it together for the Holiday Bowl, so the
seniors can go out on a well-deserved high-note with a victory over Arizona.

GO BIG RED!!!!
