I think we should wait for Coach Pelini to determine who goes and who
stays. I wasn't happy with the offense this year either, but it is
probably a lot more complex reasoning behind the lack of production than
we fans can possibly know. After the Iowa State melt down, the offense
seemed to change directions. The offense in the early part of the
season was all about complexity that it seemed none of the players
understood. After the Iowa State game, the direction was more protect
the ball (for good reason) and simplicity. I was never a fan of the
West Coast Offense. I did think we needed more balance to the game than
we had in the later part of the Osborne-Solich years. But when
Bottom-feeder bill callahan tried to institute his offense (what ever
that was) we went totally away from what had been the bread and butter
of Nebraska football.
When the Huskers changed the direction during the end of they season, it
had to be pretty basic. There wasn't enough time to institute a full
scale new offense during that part of the season and it was obvious that
we didn't have the personel to continue with the offense that was in
place BIS (Before Iowa State). It seems a lot of people want to dump
Barney Cotton. I'm not so sure thats warranted. I'm not a big fan of
Watson, but I don't think dumping him is necessarily the right move
either.
It wouldn't bother me at all to see Mangino come to Lincoln. I think
there is way more to the fiasco in Lawrence than is coming out. I
think perkins out "pederson" stevie boy in the way he handled the whole
affair. I don't put alot of stock in all the accusations that have been
printed about that entire affair.
