Nebraska is currently 0-1-1 against Arizona, with the most recent game a
loss in the 1998 Holiday Bowl. I for one would love to see the Huskers
win in this year's Holiday Bowl and get revenge.
So far it has been a terrific season. This team has nothing to be ashamed
in. Even with the loses against TTech and ISU this team has done well.
Yes, the offense has struggled, but it is a young offense. As I posted
some weeks back, once Bo understands the offense - watch out world! Don't
get too down on Zac Lee, remember he was brought in to perform in a much
different offense. He has done well, but this a transition period for
Nebraska's offense. Eventually, Cody Green will be the starter, not
because Zac Lee cannot get the job done, but because Cody Green's skill
set will better match Nebraska's offensive style. Zac Lee has had a good
year. He deserves credit for stepping to one of the toughest jobs in
college football - quarterback at Nebraska. He has to live up to Turner
Gill, Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost, Jerry Tagge, Dave Humm, Vince
Ferragamo, Jerry Gdowski, Zac Taylor, Joe Ganz, etc).
While the Nebraska quarterback position may not be as sexy as the Miami,
Florida, Texas, USC, etc it is still a very highly visible one.
The players, Coach Pelini, and his staff have done a great job this year.
We should all be proud of each and every one of them. They have played
like a team, lost like a team, and won like a team. All the while showing
the class that we fans expect. We fans should follow their example.
The loss was tough, but sun did come up today (even though it is raining
in Chandler (Phoenix) Arizona, but the we really need the rain!). I
understand Coach Pelini's and players reactions during the post game
press conference. But they should be proud of themselves. Nobody, and I
mean, nobody game them a chance. If the Florida/Alabama had ended with as
much drama everyone would be talking how great both teams are.
Coach Pelini not only has the ship in the right direction, but it is
beginning to go 'full steam ahead'.
Now on to the Bowl game and Nebraska's final win of this season!
Go Big Red!
