Subject: [Husker] 01:44 Left in the Game

Indeed, a moral victory as defined by most in the Husker Nation...for sure
by Hartley Burr Alexander:

"Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the
glory."

Coach Pelini will continue to grow and mature under Coach Osborne.  It is
inevitable that the program will continue to continuously improve...just
like it did in mid-1990's after the end-of-the-game field-goal fiascos
against Florida State. Back then, Nebraska took the lead on a FG with 01:16
left in the game.  FSU started at their own 35 after an errant kick
(Bennett)) went out of bounds. FSU's march downfield was also aided by a
15-yard penalty (Miles).

After that Orange Bowl game, Coach Osborne said, "I told my team I was proud
of them. People play for rings and trophies, but as far as I'm concerned we
won. We didn't win on the scoreboard, but we played great football...But the
main thing isn't the rings and the championships. It's playing like
champions, and that's what we did."  So, 1994 spring practice started with
01:16 on the clock...and a possessed team made history over the next few
years.

While I stood in the Blacksburg stands earlier this year, Nebraska led 15-10
when the Hokies took the ball with 01:44 left in the game...we just came up
short.

Last night in Arlington, with Nebraska leading 12-10, the final Texas drive
started with 01:44 left in the game...we just came up short.

I suspect that 2010 spring practice starts with 01:44 on the clock and a
focus on some 'unfinished business!'  You cannot stop the BOmentum.

OH...by the way, Stoops' Arizona Wildcats make a GREAT match-up in the
Holiday Bowl.

Go Big Red!
