1. For a while, I thought I was watching a Northwestern game. The
difference is that Northwestern lives by overachieving on offense
and then hoping the defense can make a key play at the end, which
it did about 3/4 of the time this year. Nebraska overachieved on
defense this year but had to hope that the will offense show up for
a few series, which it did about half of the time.

2. Asante's personal foul was probably a case of tackle him and get the
    flag or watch him score.

3. If good teams find ways to win games, Nebraska isn't a good team--yet.

4. Nebraska should pick up some votes in the polls.

5. That near-safety at the other end of the field a big difference,
    didn't it?

6. The replay officials got it right more often in this game than in
quite a few other games I've seen this season, including,
unfortunately, putting that deadly second back on the clock at the
    end of the game.

7. It'll be interesting to see what the computers and especially the voters
have to say tomorrow. I don't think Texas is an automatic lock for
the NC game, and I've already heard several commentators say that
Texas didn't deserve to win for the bonehead clock management at the
end. I think they'll likely get 2nd place anyway but it may be a
    whole lot closer now.

8. Watch out for the AP poll, they might produce a split national
championship this year if Texas wins a close game and TCU wins going
    away.

9. For those who may have missed it, The House subcommittee on energy and
and commerce may be voting on a bill soon which prohibits
"promotion, marketing, and advertising of any post-season NCAA Division
I football game as a national championship game unless such game is
the culmination of a fair and equitable playoff system." I guess
they haven't got any other problems to solve in Washington.

10. Suh could finish in the top 5 in the Heisman voting, but probably
won't finish in the top 3 because too many voters made their minds
up months ago and don't recognize defense as a 'skill'.

11. Suh will be the first player drafted by the NFL, too bad that means
he'll go to a team that has little or no chance of making the
playoffs most years. I guess it could be worse, though, he could
    get drafted by the Bears.

12. Too bad they've already picked the Big 12 coach of the year, Bo would
get quite a few votes now.
