[Husker] Thoughts on the Big-XII Championship

Well, our men in scarlet and cream sure played on helluva game. My hats
off to them! Coach Pelini has Nebraska back. Now he and Coach Osborne can
share 'unfinished business' seasons.

I believe that Alex Henery's punting was off due to the TV in the middle
of field. It looked like he was trying to punt around it and was not
punting in his normal fashion. At least next year he will be used to it.

It looked like the coaches got a little too conservative with the offense
and were calling plays to avoid turn overs. The last series before the go
ahead field goal really showed this. There was plenty of time on the
clock. Another first down or two and Texas would have been burning time
outs.

Nebraska's offense is really missing the receivers they had last season.
There were too many dropped passes. While some of Zac Lee's passes could
have been a little better, there were balls in hands that should have
been caught. With experience, this receiving core will get better. The
team lost some good receivers last year. Hopefully, Roy Helu is healthy
next year. It looks like his injuries got to him during the game.
Hopefully, too with more experience the offensive line will be able to
pick it up. The quarterback situation will be interesting to see next
spring. At least they get the extra weeks of practice this season.

While I understand to horse collar rule, I disagree that the jersey
should also count. It was clear that Larry Asante grabbed the jersey,
then the receiver ran away from him, while it was another Husker player
that tackled the receiver. But they called the rule correctly as it
stands right now. I wouldn't call Larry Asante's tackle a bone headed
move. He was doing everything he could to help out his team. I personally
don't believe that he is a dirty player.

Ndamukong Suh deserves all the defensive trophies and the Heisman.

Cotton or Holiday? Either one would be a good Bowl. I'd prefer the Cotton
as it a January 1st Bowl.

Nebraska had a great season this year. Here's to them capping it off with
a Bowl win. Who would have thought after the loss to ISU that Nebraska
would have Texas to a 1 point decision on a last second field goal in the
Big-XII Championship game?

I don't think it matters who plays Alabama, they will get creamed.

Great job Huskers!

And for you fans that were at the game, great spirit. You could hear the
'defense!' and 'Go Big Red!' cheers on TV! Thanks for traveling and
supporting our men in scarlet and cream. (By the by, what was up with the
red longhorn on the Texas helmets? I guess everyone wants to be the 'Big
Red!'.)

Go Big Red!
