[Husker] More Heisman Hype

Part of reason some of these pundits have Suh down the list is that they base their projections in part on past history. If a player runs for X and throws for Y, then he has Z probability to win based on the past statistics of Heisman winners. And since no defensive lineman has ever won the Heisman, his stats count for 0.

Even the voters deep down have that bias; while they won't come out and admit that a defensive lineman can't be a candidate for the Heisman, they limit their consideration to offensive skill players. Some of it might be what happened to Peyton Manning, who did everything a traditional Heisman Trophy winner would do, and didn't get it. 12 years later, some voters might have a little remorse about that vote.

Especially when some voters think that McCoy and Texas got robbed last year.

That being said, if Mr. Suh has a Missouri-like game on Saturday night...I still believe he has a chance.

Subject: [Husker] More Heisman Hype

John Taylor, who has a blog on NBCSports has a little blurb about the latest Heisman hype. His list is below. If you go to the site you'll see several comments on this, most I support of Suh. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/03/heisman-polls-now-pointing-toward-mccoy/

1.) Ndamukong Suh
2.) Toby Gerhart
3.) Colt McCoy
4.) Mark Ingram
5.) Kellen Moore

At the Scripps Howard and the HeismanPundot.com polls Suh is way down the list. Suh is in front by 12,00 votes and the ESPN site.

Here is your daily reminder to go vote for Ndamukong. Here is the latest standings at the site.

Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska 114657 19%
C.J. Spiller RB Clemson 105527 17%
Mark Ingram RB Alabama 97211 16%
Tim Tebow QB Florida 81866 13%
Colt McCoy QB Texas 75909 12%

I think that the turnaround in the standings with Suh having a 9,000 vote lead is a reflection on the power of the Huskers List.
