Great perspective! Yes, I would absolutely say that being patient, having a
rational plan and keeping to it are things that Nebraska has going for it.
It has made Nebraska stick out like a sore thumb while we watch programs
churn through coaches looking for an instant, magical elixir. There is no
magic that can replace hard work and diligence.
The change That Dr. Tom and Coach Pellini have wrought in two short years is
quite something, but it is the long term that they have in mind and this
will be NU's competitive advantage. It doesn't mean we'll go on a 60 game
winning streak, but that NU will always be making well-reasoned decisions
based on the best interests of the program and the players. This in a
nutshell is Dr. Tom's "more than winning" philosophy in my opinion.
I think NU got away from that and it was out of character for the school and
the state after over three decades of "the Nebraska way". Its back and
regardless while there will be pains along the way the overall process will
be our own and will make progress. NU will once again be an anachronism
because most of the college football world isn't about process as much as
flashy sales speak and the Al Davis "just win baby" attitude.
