 "Nebraska’s first potential franchise quarterback since Curt Dukes in  
2002.(talking about Cody Green)  
We know how it turned  out for Dukes. He arrived early, held his own with 
Jammal Lord and Mike Stuntz  in spring ball, and was basically handed the 
starting job by Frank Solich five  games into the 2002 season. He turned it down. To 
this day, the inside stories  of Solich disbelief at that response make me 
smile. What in the hell did Dukes  think he signed up for – working night shift 
at Taco Bell? Dukes transferred to  Duke and never played a down. The lesson: 
The kid looked the part, acted the  part and played the part – right up until 
opening night. Then he didn’t want the  part." 
I had never heard  this before - helps a little when you try to connect the 
dots with what  happened.
