And thus we trot down the same path as the Israeli-Palestinian
debacle, each side pointing fingers of blame, digging deeper into the
past with each moment we go because assessing blame is worth more
politically than solving the problem.
Because the moment we identify the "unnamed politician" as GW Bush,
then someone else can come up with the fact that it was Bill Clinton's
idea to push home mortgages on people who couldn't really afford them,
and in a few minutes we're back to Roosevelt and the New Deal. After
that, it's on to the Magna Carta and then back to evolution (oops,
sorry, creation maybe. whatever).
I don't recall Gary insulting you personally Steve... plank in your
own eye, blah de blah, so why do you feel the need to insult him?
No one's blameless in this mess. The lefties want everything to fall
on Bush, apparently because they were helpless, powerless to do
anything to stop him (weeping, tears), and now that they're in power,
the righties want to start screaming about fiscal responsibility.
Fuck 'em both I say. I may be governed by each major party, but I sure
as hell ain't voting for either of them. If you think that's a wasted
vote, then you can look no further than Minnesota's senate race. I'm
proud of the mess I've helped make here.
Man, for the richest country in the world, we sure are an angry bunch
of people.
