[Husker] Athletic Department Budget Cuts?

Arguing that the athletic program is self supporting is all well and
good. But I sometimes wonder about society's priorities. What does
it say about us when we spend all this money on sports? Are things
out of proportion? I think it's great that 400 athletes can get a
college education. But what about the 4,000 kids who would like to go
to UNL but can't because they don't have enough money?

Ever since Bob Stoops came along a number of years ago and broke the
seal on the top threshold of college football coaches' salaries, I've
been of the opinion that there is way too much money involved. NO
college football coach should get paid $500,000, let alone a million
or two or three million. It's just nuts.

That said, I don't want Dear Old NU to fall behind the college
football (or college athletics in general) powers. So, NU does what
it has to do to keep pace...

Still a sad commentary on our society in general, though.
