[Husker] Game Observations

An ABC conversation... perhaps this was an A-B discussion and I should 'C'
my way out of it. However, I attended the game and also felt that the
Hokies outplayed the Huskers on Saturday night.

~~~
A few stats not mentioned in the early dialogues caught my attention:
VA Tech time of possession was 34:44 vs 25:16.  It's hard to control the
clock when you're rushing plan is stuffed (25 carries for 55 yards).  And,
only hitting on 2 of 11 3rd downs means that you give up the ball and keep
your own Defense on the field...Huskies ended with 14 FD's to VA Tech's 21.
Had it not been for a relatively strong red-zone defense, I think the score
would've resembled the drubbing that actually occurred.
~~~
It's OK to admit defeat to a team that made fewer mistakes, had better
execution and more experienced coaching. Congrats to the Hokies.

Nonetheless, I loved the never-say-quit attitude and believe that the
Huskers will upset a team that most feel they should lose to. But not this
weekend, Daniel and Maclin will torch the not-so-deep secondary.

Early prediction 60~30.

Cheers,
Steve Gomez

If you want to make the claim claim that Virginia Tech dominated
Nebraska and also claim that the score made the game seem closer than it
seemed, then please show us why that is the case. The facts of the game
don't back up those assertions. Simply saying, "the Hokies were
knocking Huskers down and around" doesn't back up your premise either.

I never said that stats win games, so I'm not sure what point you were
trying to make with that statement. However, if you want to analyze how
close this game was, while accepting that it was a loss for Nebraska,
then looking at the statistics is about the best way to go about that.
