In that Alamo Bowl, you could see the look of incredulousness on Pelini's face when he got flagged. I don't think he realized what had happened at the time, nor that he was anywhere close to the line. Saturday night, I didn't see that reaction from Pelini; I don't know if that's a good sign or not.
In any event, Pelini acknowledged his mistake almost immediately after the game. I think he'll learn from it, but I'm not convinced that it won't happen again. Pelini is a fiery leader, and this is one of the downsides to it. You had to expect that it was coming at some point. You just hope that he can keep it toned down and not have it hurt the team again.
I find it interesting that I haven't found anybody trying to defend Pelini's actions on Saturday night. At best, he gets a "we knew it was coming" response. Is that because it wasn't so much what he said, but rather the 10 yard penalty that was assessed?
