Sure it makes a difference... if the ball carrier had turned up field
instead of going out of bounds, then Suh would have most likely stopped him
from getting the first down. But, as it turns out, he didn't, and Suh hit
him out of bounds. 15 yards, automatic first down. I'm only saying that
Suh may not have made such a boneheaded move after all; there may have been
that thought process behind it.

It makes no difference. The rule is there to protect players.
Had it been a VT player flying onto one of our players a yard or so out
of bounds, I suspect this discussion would be much different.
