How many on this list believed NU was a MNC caliber team this year? My guess is not very many if any at all. How many think that BO thought he had that caliber of team? Again I would say none. With that said here is my take on the game:
1. I liked how we did not quit and played to win until the end. Not something we saw much of last year or the last 4 years. Even with all the mental break downs we were still in the game at the end with a pretty decent football team.
2. I think the big goal this year was a chance to win the Big XII north. The game last night did nothing to help reach that goal. I think we kept it pretty vanillia on both sides of the ball and did not show much to Mizzu or the rest of the Big XII. How many different offensive sets did we really see? How many different plays? We saw very little roll out passing, option runs, screen passes etc that really let Joe show his talents. How often did we blitz and did we really mix up anything on defense at all. I think you will see a whole lot more the next couple of weeks.
3. I love the fire Bo shows by getting on the refs when he thinks they made a wrong call but he needs to learn to say his piece and then shut up. I personally think the call on Suh was wrong and I think Bo had every right to yell at the ref but he needs to say what he has to say and then let it go and go back to coaching. While I dont think it cost us the game it sure didn't help the effort either.
4. If we dont do a better job of tackling and blocking the schemes we put together wont matter a whole lot. I think this staff and this team will get better as the season goes along and I think we will see a dramatic difference by seasons end.

Dave,
What do you mean he doesn't look it? What does a head coach look like? We
can disagree on his actions at the end of the game. This game wasn't lost
at the end of the game. I don't believe you can pin it on that one action.
Jeff

> > Some will criticize Suh and Pelini at the end of that game. I mildly
disagree. Suh was in the air already. Bo was fighting for his player. That's
a players' coach.> Can't agree with this at all. The call on Suh was
the right call. And Pelini's behavior was inexcusable. A Head Coach simply
cannot have a penalty like that called. "Fighting for his player"?
nonsense, he was arguing a call....and he was out of control. Bo has shown
flashes of crazy before, and this was more of the same. It was a 5 point game
at the time and if the D could have help Tech to a field goal, then it would
have been an 8 point game and that is tie-able. Pelini hurt his team tonight
and he needs to cut it out. He is a Head Coach. He doesn't look it, he
doesn't act it. Get yourself together Bo.Dave
