>Uggggh. While I don't mind (and actually enjoy) an evening game, an 8 pm kickoff for a Husker game in Lincoln is a little too >late. Atmosphere might be good as some older fans may skip the game entirely (since it starts after their bedtime), but that >drive home is going to be literally murder as everybody will be hitting the road at the same time at midnight. For 6 pm >kickoffs, some people will hang around and tailgate a little or head downtown to the bars. That's not happening that night >(morning?).

Long drives home for fans is an EASY tradeoff for an ESPN national game in prime time. Win or lose the exposure that comes from games like these are like gold and something that you can't buy.

The only reason that there are now Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday night college football games is that programs are willing to suffer through the logistical problems they create because they know that the exposure that you get from national primetime games is well worth the hassles.

I am sure the Athletic Department would love to see every game a primetime national game if it could be. As a program that has sort of slid off of the national radar, we need as many opportunities as we can to shine and get Coach Pelini, Coach/AD Osborne and the newest age of Husker Football on the national scene.
