I was surprised by that as well, but once I clicked on the link, it
became clear.
The Schedule Strength number reports the NCAA ranking of our strength
of schedule and they calculate the strength of schedule by aggregating
the current record of all of the opponents played so far, discarding
the games played against Nebraska (or the team in question).
Nebraska's three opponents are a combined 4-1 in games played outside
of Nebraska, for an .800 winning percentage, tied for 10th in the
nation. The NCAA doesn't care that those games include opponents such
as Cal-Davis. Virginia Tech's opponents are a combined 5-1, for a
slightly better .833 percentage.
Click on the link to see the full national list. It also includes
data for the future opponents as well. Nebraska shows pretty strong
in that category as well since the Big XII has a pretty good non-
conference record so far.
