To be fair, VaTech was able to come back in the second half helped by
the loss of the Tarheels starting QB. But when they smelled blood,
that defense swarmed NCarolina and made them make mistakes. I take a
couple of messages away from this game.
One: even if you're up by 14, don't let up. They are an athletic team
on defense and aren't going to be intimidated by the N on the helmets,
Memorial Stadium, or prime time TV.
Two: Keep Joey Healthy. As we've seen in the last game, we don't want
the weight of this game to fall on Patrick Witt's shoulders. Play him
if there's no chance VaTech can come back, but otherwise, keep him off
the field. And Keep Joey Healthy.
