So again I ask....Lets say the first play the Huskers run after getting the ball back is a fullback trap up the middle. If the fullback gets past everyone and can score should he fall down so as to let the coaches have more time with the defense? NO!!!!! You can rest assured that Watson is not telling his players to go out and gain 4yards this play and nothing else. Sometimes you have to adjust on the fly. Its what good teams, players, and coaches do. If the offense were to run every play as it is supposed to be ran and did it to perfection they would score everytime. I as stated before no one designs a play to only gain 4-5 yards. 
 
Like I said it doesn't matter if it turns into a shoot out or is a low scoring game... the name of the game is to outscore your opponent. I would guess that the game plan will be to run the ball more then pass it if we can against Mizzu but if we run willy nilly over them I dont think Bo will be chewing anyone out on the sidelines or at practice on Monday.

Well, of course you need to score more points than your opponent.  That's a
no duh.

But if we try to get into a shootout with Missouri, we're playing right
into their hands.  Their offense has moved up and down the field all season
long, and they rarely make a mistake.  I didn't get to see much of the
Tigers game against Nevada, but a Mizzou fan I know pointed out to me that on
Saturday, Chase Daniel had more touchdowns than incompletions.

That's obscene.

If you can play a ball-control offense, you allow your defense to stay off the
field for longer stretches.  That means more rest, and also gives your coaches
more opportunities to make adjustments.  Many fans noted how much time the
coaches spent with the defense after New Mexico State nearly drove the field on
the opening drive on Saturday night.  What would have happend if the Husker
offense had gone 3 and out on their first possession, or perhaps scored on a
long play.  Those adjustments might not have been made, and the defense
wouldn't have been ready to go out.

Plus, keeping Missouri's offense on the sideline might make them a little
nervous or fidgety.  Maybe when they get out on the field again, they might try
to force the ball and play a little more reckless.

Look at last fall's NU-Kansas game.  That game got out of control in part
because Nebraska decided to get into a track meet with Kansas...and couldn't
keep up.
