[Husker] Game thoughts

I enjoy watching the team no matter who the opponent is.
When is the last time any top BCS teams wanted to play Nebraska? I haven't exactly seen any of them lining up for a shot in the past few years, and in fact I remember reading Ohio State turned the chance down if I'm not mistaken.
It goes both ways.

The reason for three "cupcakes" is the NCAA adding the 12th game. It
was difficult even with an 11-game schedule to get "good" teams to
play each other. But when you have additional Division One schools, plus a
12-game schedule, you get these "cupcake" games. <soapbox>
it's a result of NCAA greed, and not the Huskers trying to pad stats.
<off soapbox>
Fans should absolutely take pride in a win - no matter who the opponent is.
These games serve a purpose - to prepare the Huskers (or any team) to get ready
for the conference season; to see what works and what doesn't and make
changes accordingly.
I bet New Mexico State would have been a more formidable foe had they
gotten to play at least one game before coming to Lincoln.
It's obvious Nebraska has much tougher competition on the horizon; but
these non-conference games allow the coaches to see players in real-game
scenarios and not just on the practice field.
