[Husker] Hurricanes Coming to play in Lincoln

My only correction to the Bill Byrne philosophy is that there's nothing wrong with trying to schedule a "National Championship" game in September... mostly because, you simply don't know who is going to be in the mix when you are scheduling years in advance. (Miami is scheduled for 2014 and 2015; those players are now in junior high.)

Look at this weekend's Ohio State/Southern Cal game. Somebody please give me a reason why that's not a good thing for college football. Granted, if Ohio State loses (perhaps badly), they might be out of the national championship picture. But that's not a reason to not play this type of game.

And to be fair, the former athletic director did do a good job of lining up these types of opponents: Virginia Tech, Tennessee, UCLA. My criticism is the other three non-conference games that surround those games the next three years. There should be at least one and hopefully two top-50 teams each season; there are actually zero. (In fact, looking at Washington, we might have ZERO top-50 teams on the non-conference schedule in 2010.)
