I agree with you on the aspect of fairness to the players. A mere accusation of wrongdoing is insufficient. But by that same matter, there has to be a distinction between the evidence required to incarcerate a young man for the next twenty or thirty years, versus the evidence required to end someone's football career.
Obviously, the jury felt the evidence was insufficient to convict Andy Christensen. From what I read in media reports of the trial, I think there was sufficient evidence to remove him from the team.
