[Husker] Christensen Reinstated

Well I don't happen to know all the facts in the case but I'm guessing
there is some sort of precedent, either with this athletic department or
Pelini himself, and I happen to trust his (or whomever's) judgment on
this. Whether it is right or wrong can be argued all day I suppose.

I'm willing to bet many, many college football players have done worse
things and been reinstated, and similarly many have probably been booted
for less. And let's not forget- although this situation certainly reeks
a bit, Christensen was in fact found not guilty. And while it may seem
like a 'slap on the wrist' to the average person, I would actually argue
being suspended for a quarter of the season (and thus losing a starting
job and plus likely missing a game or two more because he is no way in
football shape) is in fact a pretty big blow to a college player who
more than likely is playing his last year of football.

One other thing to remember, if in fact he did not do this, as the jury
believed, he will be associated with this for the rest of his life, and
I'd guess that will bring some difficult consequences with it as well.

I don't see how anyone can argue it's a strong message, unless
the message is that the penalties are likely to be light.

I'm trying to take the uncynical view that Bo might have the
same perspective about helping Christensen as Osborne did about
helping Phillips, but I think the effective result will be more
trouble in the future because it creates a perception that the
penalty is light.

I am disappointed and think this is a bad move for short-term
perceptions and for long-term realities.
