[Husker] Random thoughts on the Baylor game

I agree the officiating was bad today.  I am familiar with alot of the big 12 officials but this group I had never heard of.  A bunch of newbies!

I was at the game today with my daughter! Had great time and got
sun-burned!!

Does anyone who watched the game on TV know what happened on the Nebraska
punt that appeared to be touched by a Baylor player? The "White Hat"
said
that it was Baylor's ball, then announced a review, and then said the play
on the field had been confirmed. However, the ball was spotted at the
Baylor 24 yard line instead of where NU had downed or recovered the ball?
Did an NU player touch the ball at the 24 yard line?

On a similar note, is it just me or has the Big 12 officiating seemed shaky
so far this season? A couple of things I questioned today:

1) The "Horse collar" tackle personal foul on the Huskers in the
first
quarter. It appeared to me that the NU defender was trying to hold the
Baylor runner up and that the Baylor sideline players actually caused the
hit.

2) The personal foul on Steinkuhler near the end of the first half? What
happened? It was hard to see anything on the stadium replay.

3) On Baylor's long pass completion early in the 3rd quarter, one of the
Baylor receivers was actually blocking an NU defender while the pass was in
the air. It appeared to happen right in front of the officials.

I know that the NU coaching staff was really questioning (politely, I am
sure:-)) the officials most of the 1st half. In fact, Bo called timeout
right before 1/2 time and spent the entire time talking with 3 officials. He
also spent 1-2 minutes of 1/2 time talking with the officials.

Maybe that's part of the issue -- too much complaining and the officials
are
tired of it1

All in all, I was pretty happy with the performance of the Huskers,
especially in the 2nd half. It was nice to see the option runs with Ganz
and Lucky.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve
