Thanks for posting that.
I am reminded of the best of the Osborne years, when Nebraska ran plays
that were often properly defensed but nobody could stop them anyway.
That shoe was on the other team's foot on Saturday. Mizzou is IMHO better
than they were last year, and they were hard to stop then.
No, Nebraska isn't a top 25 caliber team this year, possibly not even
a top 50 caliber team at the moment. I still think they could win 6
or possibly 7 games this year, but they'll have to play a lot better
than they did on Saturday and the coaches have to do a better job as well.
And that's pretty much what Bo said after the game on Saturday. In fact,
his remarks are very candid compared to the Bill Callahan parade of excuses
every week:
"Once again, it's my fault. If you want to point a finger at somebody,
point it at me because I'm not getting the job done. That's about all
that needs to be said. We got beat. We got beat soundly. They played
better than us and they definitely coached better than us."
Mizzou fans were THISCLOSE to running Gary Pinkel out of town a few
years ago, too. Amazing what have a Heisman-caliber QB does to
a coach's reputation.
