Steve (and others), once upon a time there were decent players at Nebraska too.

Once upon a time a Roman soldier serving in his legion's Torture Unit
was hard at work trying to elicit information from a Greek Stoic but
without result.
The soldier was twisting the Stoic's right leg in what should have
been an agonizing way, so he was astounded when the Stoic casually
remarked, "If you twist that leg a little more to the left, it will
break."
The frustrated soldier gave the leg an extra bit of torque which
ended in the sickening crunch of shattering bone as it penetrated
flesh.
The Stoic looked at the soldier and said, "I told you so."

The moral to the story, of course, is that it might do all of us
considerable good to develop some stoicism about the Husker football
program because there's a lot more hurt out there just waiting to
happen. Crying when it happens won't help the program, the players,
the coaches, or the fans (ourselves).
Count me in for much gritting of teeth. :-)
