[Husker] Uninspired first half

Well said Kathy.

Yesterday's game was amazing and I don't know I've ever seen that level of excitement in the crowd.  Even the 60+ year old behind me was jumping up and down when Alex hit that 57-yarder...

Not much voice left today, I'm in the east stadium at about the 23 yard line and right when he kicked it I thought it had a chance.  Everyone in my section thought we had lost when Joe took the sack and then McNeil dropped the pass.  

Then, the fear of them driving and the mayhem when Suh picked that ball out of the air (I too was screaming "GO DOWN!!", but I have to admit it was really awesome to see him toss Cody Hawkins to the ground.

Side note, how bout Potter?  Two batted balls that led to ints, cuple sacks..We're going to miss him and Steinkhuler that's for sure.

That's was incredibly exciting last night.  

Maybe the sweetest thing is the angst of the CU fan.  1:50 from a bowl trip and a big upset that looked 100% in hand.  A few minutes later...ok, that's a little mean spirited, but have you met a CU fan?  :)

First off I am no football expert but after last year sitting through 
all the games and this year sitting through all the games one thing 
really jumps out.  Last year when things didn't go well the kids just 
laid down and let the tide roll over them.  This year they still let 
some big ones go but it was not the end of the world - they came back 
out and kicked some butt.  I agree that the OU game shows us how far 
we need to go before we are back up in national contention - but you 
were never going to get to that point with a team that didn't have 
heart and these guys have heart.

As much as a player would like to think they can control the mood 
that kind of thing comes from the top and I think Pelini and crew 
have instilled in the kids the idea that they can be successful and 
that the coaches are going to do everything they can to help them be 
successful.  Even on the last play of the game the players were going 
full out - that shows me effort is valued and to my mind that is a 
good thing.
