Of course, for many years, very few NU assistants went elsewhere. As 
someone noted, only five former NU assistants are currently head coaches 
(six if you count Pelini): Solich, Gill, Jerry Moore, Craig Bohl and 
Scott Downing. Moore has had the most success, winning three national 
championships at Appalachian State. Bohl has had winning seasons every 
year at ND State. Gill has done well given the situation he stepped 
into, and appears destined for bigger things. Solich's record at Ohio is 
so-so. Downing has won three or four games in his three seasons at 
Northern Colorado.
