[Husker] Code Glenn Suspended

At this time, it's mostly rumor and innuendo as to what Cody Glenn actually did. So in one sense, it's rather unfair to mention Glenn in the same breath as Larry Johnson, Michael Vick, and Lawrence Phillips. After all, unlike those others, there have been no police reports involving Glenn in any sort of impropriety.
As for whether this is something the NCAA should be involved with, I'd argue not. That's not to suggest that athletes who commit atrocious acts should still have the privilege of competing, but rather, I don't think a bureaucracy such as the NCAA is welcome to be involved in these scenarios.
That's what we have the criminal justice system for, and it needs to be allowed to work. Because that takes time to resolve, you need someone responsible to make decisions who is much closer to the situation. Best example I can think of is former Husker Damon Benning. He was arrested the same day as Lawrence Phillips on a similar charge for assaulting a woman. Many stories linked Benning and Phillips together at that time. Problem is that as the story broke, the charges against Benning were dropped, and in fact, it was learned that, if anything, Benning was the victim of a tirade. At that time, Tom Osborne was criticized for not suspending Benning, but eventually the charge was found to be completely false. I'd hate to think that the NCAA would get involved in that case and have it drag on for weeks.
