[Husker] Code Glenn Suspended

I've wondered about these cases.  That is, how "indefinite" are such suspensions?  

Without know what specific team rules were violated or  other relevant information (e.g. did the player also perjure himself in some way?  did the player or anyone else try to obstruct an investigation?) all we know is all we know:  rules were broken, evidence gathered, and the wisdom of the coaching brain trust has spoken: the player is off the team.

For now. 

That said, what if a player demonstrated considerable contrition such as a genuine apology  to the coaches, to the team, to the public, etc?  What if the player was willing to accept other consequences (don't ask me what, just imagine) and then said to the coaches "Please let me on the team.  I made a mistake and I pledge to be a better person and teammate.".   If properly done wouldn't there be a possible reconciliation after even an serious violation of team rules?  

Again I would imagine it would depend greatly on the specifics of the case.  These are young men and under proper circumstances deserving of a second chance.  Of course some lines, once crossed, allow no retreat.  

I'm not sure I've ever seen an "indefinite suspension" reversed.  I don't remember the exact language of LP's case, but the language at the time  never impressed me that he was off the team indefinitely.

all that being said, I'd be very surprised if we see Glenn back.

Well Vick had dogs that fought to the death or were cruelly killed for not being tough enough. From what I heard about the latest LJ incident is that he spit on a woman. Lots of difference there. Havent heard the whole LJ story but that is what I am hearing. Is there more?

It is a reflection of the strange standards that exist for athletes, and what
offenses are deemed acceptable or not, across both college and professional
athletics.

For example, Michael Vick fights dogs and the World comes down on him as one of
the most heinous villains in the history of sports. Meanwhile, Larry Johnson of
the Chiefs is involved in his FOURTH assault on a woman, and Chief's fans
are upset that the team (and ultimately the NFL) suspended him and are clamoring
for him to return to the lineup.

Neither crime is excusable, but it is interesting that an attack against
animals is deemed so horrible while attacks against human females somehow seem
more acceptable. Those are strange priorities that I think are substantially off
kilter as well (sorry PETA members).
