Fw: [Husker] So anybody watching the NU/OU game?

I watched the whole game live and again on tape this morning where I could slow it down and really see things develop (at least as much as the ESPN coverage allows) and the first thing that jumped off the screen to me was how many times Huskers defenders either blew assignments or were in the wrong places at the wrong times. I know OU runs a no huddle so substitutions are difficult and the flow of the game is totally dictated by their offense, but there were TONS of mental errors on the NU defense.
Now some might say that is poor preparation by the coaches, but I can't pin this one on them. There were several plays where two (even three) defenders would run with the same OU player and leave someone else WIDE open or completely leave huge gaps in running lanes because of blown assignments. In case anyone didn't notice, the OU return teams smoked the Huskers all night long, for essentially the same reasons.
Until the players learn the things Pelini & Co. are trying to do this will be the outcome versus top tier teams- I'm afraid the Texas Tech game was more of an anomoly than anything else. It was apparent last night that several players on the defense may have been at the game physically but were nowhere in sight mentally, particularly the linebackers and secondary. The casual observer will notice this when OU players are running seemingly unmolested and suddenly a defender or two appears in the screen chasing them, who should've been covering them in the first place.
The next two years will be important for this staff to get the players in there who can fit the system they are running- I know this topic gets beat to death, but it is painfully evident right now NU just does not have the horses to run the cattledrive.
And I'd rather see Pelini getting on the coaches than the players, so anyone who feels he goes overboaard remember he is doing it in part to prevent his players from doing the same and getting tossed. Sure unsportsmanlike 15 yarders hurt, however the refs will hardly ever eject a coach but as we saw last night readily eject players.

I watched the game whole game also: I like pain... I didn't see many
positives. The offense played well after they settled down but by then
their turnovers had sealed their fate.
The Huskers put zero pressure on Bradford. He could have worn a white tux
during the game and then stood up at his best friends wedding afterward. He
didn't get touched and didn't break a sweat.
Now the part of the game that bothers me the most: I read that Bo benched
Moore after a penalty because he couldn't control his temper. Imagine, the
coach, who spent much of the game cursing and screaming into his headset at
his assistants, telling a player to be more disciplined. Talk about
chutzpah. This guy scares the hell out of me. Do you all think that a
"boss" can scream/curse at his "workers" during the game,
apologize after,
claim "we are a family", and all is forgiven??? Life doesn't
work that way:
I learned that growing up. Blo (no typo...think volcano) will have to
change the way he treats people during his tirades or he'll lose them(and
the players). The Woody Hays ways are over; people won't nor should they
have to put up with that BS any more.

I have to believe it would have been a pretty close game without the
early onslaught of mistakes/breaks for OU. Our Cornhuskers played
Texas Tech *very* close, Texas Tech beat Texas, and Texas beat OU.
Seems reasonable to think we could have been in the game with fewer
mistakes.
I also watched the whole game.
