. Putting pressure on the NBA to either draft a kid out of high school or
wait three years after high school to draft him.
"If [the NBA] wants to take them right out of high school, then take them
right out of high school," Osborne said. "But for heaven's sakes, don't let
them come to school for one year. One-and-done is not a healthy situation."

The above is a quote from TO from an article in the Dallas Morning
News. The entire article is available by clicking the URL.
I have read, heard, and seen many different "solutions" to the
"problem" of the NBA drafting kids out of college. I have always been of
the opinion you can't treat an athlete any different than any other college
student. Any student is free to put in as many years in college as they
choose, There is no mandatory three years. The thing that rings hollow to
me is are most of the statements, including TO's, trying to do what is right
for the kid or is the motivation to look out for the athletic department?
On one hand TO says if you want to go to the NBA right out of High School
then go but if you don't you can't go for three years. Its obvious his
motivation isn't the kid. It is once a program has him we can be assured we
have him for three years. It also begs the question, what if a kid doesn't
get drafted out of high school and doesn't go to college? Does he still
have to wait three years? TO didn't say if they commit to a college they
have to wait three years. He said if they are not drafted out of high
school they have to wait three years. Any way you cut this "problem" it is
messy.
