First off, NC hasn't lost a weekend series all year and they just took 
2 out of
3 from Miami.  If they go 0-3 in their tournament, they may not miss out on a
national seed, but you can bet it will be lower than if they run the 
table. Also FWIW, according to RPI's the ACC is the #1 conference and 
NC has the #1
RPI.

How you end the season plays a big role in the top 8 seeds.  The way 
both NU and
A&M ended (much worse for A&M) the regular season hurts.  That needs to 
reverse
in the tournament to get a top 8 seed.  How you win also plays a role and NU's
starting pitching aside from Dorn has been unpredictable.

As Jon said, if one of the top 3 seeds wins the tournament that team 
will get a
top 8 seed.  I would expect the other two would still get regionals.  
But a two
or three week swoon can quickly move a team from top 8 to top 16.
