[Husker] Clarification

Bob, I've often theorized that people naturally gravitate to the sports that garner national attention the most. Not just the sport, but the teams as well.
Take a look at the teams that garner attention in this area. The Huskers do well in football and ok in basketball, as does Creighton basketball, but look at all the failed teams, Royals, Racers, heck even the Beef have a hard time drawing and that's even the most popular sport in the US. Because the team isn't going to end up on Sportscenter it certainly doesn't get the attention of the average joe fan.
I'm a huge fan of Husker baseball (and baseball in general) but that's in large part because I played in college and I feel more attached to it.
However if I was like most people and never played college sports, I highly doubt that I fould follow much more than football and a bit of basketball.
Winning certainly doesn't hurt anything either. There used to be only 50-100 people at the Buck before Van Horn got here, but look at it now!
I dunno, it's just a theory I've had. People's time is precious, and mainline sports are easier to follow.

And, I think you speak for the lion's share of the people when you
say football is your #1 sport. There is nothing wrong with that
either. Football is a great game. I enjoy it. I just wish there was
as much discussion year round here as there is when something is going
on in football.
I have said this a lot of times before but the reason Steve
Pederson was vilified was because of football. He didn't leave the
entirety of the Athletic Department in bad shape. But, it goes back to
football being king. TO will be judged the same way as AD. Under Bob
Devaney's reign as AD the Athletic Department was just the reverse.
Most all the sports programs were mediocre or not very good. Baseball
was in absolute disarray. But football was big and on the National
stage so people thought everything was acceptable. But, I have known
that for close to 50 years.
