While I thoroughly agree that it can happen, for the same reason I
plunked down a hard earned $5 bill on the next lottery drawing, I'm
not betting the farm or investing much hope that it will. If I win
the lottery, good for me; if I don't, well, its one less beer I can
buy on my next trip to the brewery, but that's about it. I can't be
too sad if the Huskers don't win just because the odds of that
happening have got to be only slightly better than that $5 investment.
Of more interest, does that win last night improve the Huskers chances
of getting an NIT bid? Again, they seem to be a bubble team, and it
may depend on how the rest of the league does in this tournament.
Baylor was a NCAA bubble team; I'm sure that showing against Colorado
won't help much. Right now, Texas is up by 10 with about 5 minutes to
play, so things are going as planned. I think the better the league
does in getting teams into the NCAA tournament, the better the chances
will be for the leftovers to go into the NIT. 19 wins don't look too
shabby right now.
