Tommy...I think you may have misread Mike's original post. He didn't
misquote WB....he didn't quote him at all. The article itself doesn't
even quote Buffett, but says that his joke was about "a couple years
ago." (quote from the article, not Buffett.) A couple years generally
means 2, maybe 3, could be 4, but probably not back as far as 2003. It
is certainly no stretch to figure that he was talking about Callahan,
which is of course "the West Coast years" (quote from Mike.) I guess
it sorta sounds like Mike may think those years are over, but that is a
stretch. I haven't seen a lot of posts that think there is some
notable sentiment that the WCO is gone. TO made it clear that in his
search he looked for someone to fix the defensive problems. And then
the OC was retained. So clearly some offensive continuity is the
plan. I might have to differ with your statement that Shawn Watson ran
the WCO last year. Shawn Watson didn't run anything. Everything about
the offensive was all Bill Callahan...except the blame of course. I
always wondered why Watson, a great OC prospect, would come to Nebraska
to run someone else's offense, where someone else made all the
offensive decisions, and someone else called the offensive plays
(except for one quarter and even that is in doubt.) But no matter, he
is the man now and it is my fervent hope that that is a good thing for
him, the team, and us as fans. About the offense in 2008, you're
probably right that it won't look dramatically different. I *hope* for
dramatically better play-calling, dramatically better game-coaching,
and a sound running game that then won't be abandoned. These can only
make the offense, whatever it is called, better.

Dave
