I've come to think that many or even most radio stations find
controversy more important than factual reporting. Radio now seems so
far below newspapers and even television in journalism that I'd regard
many Internet sites as more reliable sources of information. I would
say that NPR and PRI are exceptional and offer some of the best sources
of information and social commentary in programs such as Morning
Edition, All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation, BBC World Service,
and This American Life. I know this is off-topic, but it is the
slow season, but if you've never listened to This American Live, it
can be pretty entertaining.
