You might be. Oklahoma State vs Washington State is a better game than
Western Michigan vs Nebraska plain and simple.
As for the other game, Wake Forest is a pretty good football team,
probably a pre-season Top 25 team and Baylor is a program with a lot of
good story lines as well. While they have been a perennial doormat, keep
in mind that Baylor also has a new coach, Art Briles from Houston. Coach
Briles is a Texas native who made Houston very competitive in C-USA. I
know it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but if you look at the
ESPN Top 150 recruits, more currently have Baylor on their list of
schools than do Nebraska. Beyond Coach Briles, Baylor is also making a
significant investment in football and will open a new $34 million
football complex on campus this fall. While it will always be tough for
Baylor to compete in the South division of the B12, they are definitely
a program on the rise towards respectability.
As Husker fans I know that we want the entire college football landscape
to focus on Lincoln and on Coach Pelini, but until we start winning a
lot of games again in general - don't expect games like Western Michigan
to be on television.
