I agree with your statement Fiala has more personal
knowledge of the game that Pavelka. Or, at least I
assume he does.

However, that doesn't make him a better broadcaster.
This could be my own personal bias (being in
broadcasting), but I can't stand it when guys get
commentator jobs just because they've played the game.

There are very few, in my opinion, ex-players/coaches
that have excelled in the broadcast booth. Many of
them can't relate the knowledge once they get the mic
in front of their face.

I would rather hear a better, "less-informed"
broadcast than an ex-player stumbling through a game.
